The Mediterranean sun warmed the sidewalks outside the Universitat Polit\u00e8cnica de Val\u00e8ncia UPV. A chilly 35 Celsius. The campus for the AI workshops. A 3\u2011day higher\u2011education conference with workshops on everything from AI, to prompt engineering to context engineering and workflow innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember3269\">Among the buzzing setup and keynote chatter, 27 professors from around the business campus gathered in a quiet seminar room. They came eager to learn \u201chow AI works\u201d, thinking they&#8217;d dive into tech, code, algorithms. But within minutes, the scene shifted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember3270\"><strong>Day one<\/strong>: They expected \u201cwhat is AI?\u201d, the digital jargon. But questions surfaced fast: \u201cHow does this impact faculty workloads? Budgets? Student outcomes? ROI?\u201d Their laptops stayed closed at the start. They wanted business meaning, not tech specs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember3271\"><strong>Day two<\/strong>: Our workshop, modelled after the typical Wiemer\u2011style story coaching, asked them to sketch classroom scenes: a student using AI to draft an essay, a professor using AI to streamline admin tasks. The magic happened when they realized AI was not code\u2014it was leverage for business goals in education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember3272\">One professor laughed and said: \u201cI thought we were learning Python. Turns out we\u2019re learning ROI.\u201d Another nodded: \u201cIt\u2019s pure business topics\u2014nothing to do with IT.\u201d That shifted the room. Shifted the whole workshop. As it should. AI as a pure strategy topic. A business essential. For current students. And the companies they will work for. Today. Not tomorrow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember3273\"><strong>Day three<\/strong>: We flipped to implementation. All the prompting, and the context engineering. For new workflows. New ways of working. No lines of code\u2014just prompts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cHow could AI free 2\u202fFTE worth of admin time?\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cWhat value would personalized feedback bring?\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cWhat revenue or cost impacts matter to your deans or board?\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&#8220;How does this impact my auditing practice&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember3275\">Those prompts turned theory to strategy. Suddenly, the talk was about business models, service redesign, and measurable value. The professors weren\u2019t just learners\u2014they were designers of AI-powered change. From AI Consumers to AI Makers. Amazing bunch of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ember3276\">Reflections<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>AI isn\u2019t magic code<\/strong> \u2013 it\u2019s a business lever. As I often say, \u201cstrategy only becomes actionable if people closest to the customer understand it\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Story-first works<\/strong> \u2013 building a narrative about your own context surfaces real needs, not abstract tech.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tools come second<\/strong> \u2013 first define value, then choose AI. That\u2019s what the 27 professors learned\u2014in three days under Valencia sun.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"ember3278\">Closing thoughts<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember3279\">By the final afternoon, the 27 professors weren\u2019t coding\u2014they were pitching: AI\u2011based tutoring to improve retention; automated transcript analysis to cut hours of admin work; data\u2011driven recommendations for interdisciplinary program innovation. Redesigning the curriculum. Dean&#8217;s business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"ember3280\">They left the Valencia Workshops not with lines of Python, but with slides full of business cases\u2014and real ownership of AI\u2019s value in education.
